Scopes' Guide to Converting .Beat Times
Alright, we've all hopefully heard of beat. No, not what you do when you're angry at someone, the time system. And, hopefully all of you know it's a base 1000 system and all that jazz. (Quoted from the Wikipedia, "Swatch Internet Time is a concept introduced in 1998 and marketed by the Swatch corporation as an alternative measure of time. One of the goals was to simplify the way people in different time zones communicate about time, mostly by eliminating time zones altogether." (Read the full article here).

Now, as to telling time from beat, you basically have to KNOW what beat @ is what hour (hours varying from 42 to 44 beats, with each beat being approximatley 1.44 minutes.) As for people who live in an Eastern time zone, 6pm is 0. So, in turn 6am is 500, and while just splitting the difference into 12 will get you close it's still a little bit off. But, want to get up to at least a 93% accuracy in beat time? Here's how.

Normal Time to .Beat
If you know what hour is @0 in your timezone, then you can fairly easily figure out what the time is. Sure, you can look at a clock, heak, you probably have a VCR next to your system of choice, or just your computer clock, but here's how to figure it out. You take the number of minutes past your @0 hour (so, for eastern, say 1am, that's 7 hours. So, it's 7x60, giving you 420.) Now divide that by 1.44, giving you 291.6repeating. So, by rounding, you can assume it's @291. If you have extra minutes, it's still pretty easy to figure out. After you figure the hour minutes (so we'll say it's 1:37am, so again in this example, 420), then add the minutes before dividing by 1.44 (in this case, giving you @317). A decent shortcut is if you know you're past @500 (again, past the opposite time from your @0), just figure the amount past the time, and add 500 beats. (So 7:15am could be done ((13x60)+15)1.44 = 552 OR ((1x60)+15)1.44 = 52 +500 =552.

.Beat to Normal
This works quite similar to Normal to Beat. You take the beat time (right now here, it's @961), and multiply it by 1.44 (1383.84). That's how long it is past your @0 hour... in minutes... And I KNOW most of you like hours, so; then divide that number by 60 (giving you 23.064), giving you the hours, and the (almost) percent of an hour. (So a .5 would be 30 minutes, .25, 15, etc.) Again, that's slightly nasty. So feel free to subtract 500 beats, and then just remember to tag on 12 hours.

Enjoy! Have fun annoying you friends with unintellagable rabble about the time be @stuff, confuse your co-workers, and make sure you give thanks to PS multiverse for spreadin' the love!
